Hi, I’m the guy behind JPI Dad Blog.
By day, I manage IT infrastructure for enterprise clients — VMware vCenter environments, Windows and Linux virtual machines, Veritas NetBackup, Zabbix monitoring, and CyberArk privileged access management. I’ve got a computer science background and spent years writing software before moving into infrastructure, so I’ve seen both sides of the stack: the code that runs on the servers, and the servers that keep the code running.
I started this blog for a simple reason: most “how-to” IT content online is either outdated, written by someone who’s never actually run the system they’re describing, or generated by AI that’s confidently wrong. Everything here comes from things I’ve actually broken, actually fixed, and actually learned the hard way — backup jobs that “succeeded” but couldn’t restore, authentication failures at 2am, DNS issues that looked like something else entirely.

I was born and raised in South Korea, spent about a decade working in Germany, and eventually made my way to the United States — three countries, three very different work cultures, and a lot of lessons along the way. I’m also a dad of three — the “JPI” in the blog name comes from my kids’ initials. When I’m not troubleshooting a server, I’m probably chasing them around the house.
